Also known as "DG", this is a popular material with several uses.

 

Decomposed Granite is frequently used as a sub-base for riding arenas  and floor material for horse stalls. It has a permability quality that allows water to "perk" or penetrate through.

 

Decomposed Granite is also popular for pathways and trails. Locally available DG has a gold to light brown color. More exotic colors are available outside of our local area.

 

Decomposed granite can also be treated or "stabilized" by blending with 5-10% Portland cement or several commercial chemical treatments. The resulting surface is harder but much longer lasting.
